HAPPY LOOK OUT AAAUGH!
So were they running low on film that day or what is the deal exactly? And will there ever be an adequate explanation for what this empty, unsettling moment is all about? Was he a contest winner, or was this a subtle way to indicate that everyone in the movie who’s rooting for the so-called “protagonist” are themselves deranged and that we, as an audience, should be more discerning about who we designate as our heroes? I am unsure, and frankly I find the cumulative effect of these scenes too chilling to dare investigate further.
Those last fifteen minutes of Happy Gilmore… they’ll prepare you for David Lynch, I tell you.
