Foul Papers

I'm Andrew McIlvaney. I write this stuff, but never mind that... How are you?

New to Foul Papers? Why not start from the beginning?

Spooky Hallowe’en Tip That’s Spooky

It’s Hallowe’en and your number one goal is to not be the lamest house on the street. You’ve put the requisite jack-o’-lantern in front of your door that you got dirt cheap because it’s rotting, and you’ve convinced yourself that it’s better this way because produce decomposition is kind of scary, right? You just need one more thing to save you from the derision of trick-or-treaters, with their masked faces and loaded pillowcases. You realize that all it’s going to take is a recording of “spooky” sound effects to put you in that respectable zone of trying to be festive but not trying too hard, but where do you get something like that AT THIS HOUR?

Me, I like to put Revolution 9 on a continuous loop. Not only will those who come to your house hear the CHILLING INFLUENCE OF YOKO ONO’S AVANT-GARDE STYLINGS ON JOHN LENNON, but you’ll also make up for the many, many times you’ve skipped that track. Plus, when you’re sick of handing out candy to kids, you can just let the album play straight through to Good Night. They’ll know what’s up.
